The Catawba – Hickory Plank
The Catawba, southern shagbark hickory, is the hardest of all the domestic hardwoods and due to this fact it is widely used for axe handles. It is known for its golden to brown heartwood and calico to white sapwood, which really brings out the gorgeous coloring in the grain. Hickory is a tough, strong, and hard wood, with high shock resistance & bending strength – it looks great in any room, coastal, piedmont, or mountain.
